Our Aim at Heel & Toe

‘Small Steps Lead To Great Things’

Heel & Toe Children’s Charity provides free Conductive Education therapy to children with Cerebral Palsy and other physical disabilities .  Conductive Education is a system of learning. Any child can benefit and parents/carers are encouraged to take an active role in their own development.

Our highly experienced Paediatric Physiotherapy service can provide assessments,  block treatments  or regular 1.1  physiotherapy sessions. Parental referrals are welcomed at Heel & Toe, any child with a disability or medical condition can access the service.  We will be happy to discuss the needs of each individual child prior to booking an assessment by means of a telephone conversation. Specific aims and outcomes will be discussed during assessment and goals set. Examples of conditions seen are, Cerebral Palsy, Neurological disorders, Developmental Delay, Muscular Dystrophies, Genetic abnormalities, Musculoskeletal Injuries.

Children and parents learn new ways to overcome problems with their movement, enabling them to be more active and live more independent lives. Children are proud of their own achievements, which increases confidence and self-esteem.

We can provide a specialist Occupational Therapy service for children which includes an assessment and/or treatment. All assessments are carried out by highly skilled, fully qualified Occupational Therapists. Examples of conditions we can help with include physical disabilities such as Development Coordination Disorder (DCD)/Dyspraxia,Cerebral Palsy, Autism, ADHD and Development Delay.

We have a qualified SEN Tutor who is a qualified as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). The role of the SEN Tutor OT is to work closely with parents and children with the aim of providing high quality teaching for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our SEN Tutor helps to identify effective ways of overcoming barriers to learning, and sustaining effective teaching through the comprehensive assessment of children’s needs.

Our SEN Tutor works closely with our Occupational Therapists, and can help identify if your child requires further specialist assessment of their skills to help them reach their full potential.
